ONLINE SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Curriculum Built for Online Learning
Designed by experts in online learning, our classes ignite curiosity and expand our students’ understanding of the world and their place in it. From learning about core concepts to using their new knowledge to fuel their creativity, our students build the essential skills and adaptability they need to go further in the classroom and wherever life takes them.
We offer a traditional Middle and High School option for students in grades 6-12 as well as an Alternative High School option for students who are eligible in grades 9-12. This non-traditional program provides personalized education services to students who are at risk of not graduating with their class, who have needs not being met in a traditional classroom setting, or both.

More Education Options for Your Family
Block Scheduling
Our flexible quarter schedule allows students to take a reduced number of courses over nine-week periods to give students the quality learning time they need to master the skills and standards of their grade level.
- Traditional Middle School: Students will have a mix of semester long and quarter long courses and will need to complete a minimum of 14 courses per year, as aligned to MDE requirements. Core courses, such as math and language arts, will be taken throughout the year. Science, social sciences, and electives courses will be taken on a quarter schedule.
Traditional or Alternative High School: Students will take three courses every nine weeks, for a minimum of 12 courses per year, as aligned to MDE requirements.
Summer Programs
To provide even greater flexibility for our students and their families, Great Lakes Learning Academy offers year-long educational options.
- Traditional Middle School: We offer Supplemental Instructional Support Programs in the areas of math and language arts, which are offered in the summer.
- Traditional or Alternative High School: We offer a full course catalog of course offerings to take during two summer school terms. This is a great option for students who need to catch up or who want to work ahead through enrichment and acceleration opportunities.
