Preparing Online School Students for Graduation in Indiana
Indiana Connections Academy works closely with families to ensure that students understand graduation requirements in Indiana and have the support they need to fulfill those requirements. Our comprehensive high school curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the classroom—long after graduation.
EARN YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA IN INDIANA
Students who attend online school and meet Indiana graduation requirements receive the same diploma as their peers who attend brick-and-mortar public schools in the state.
How Many Credits Do You Need to Graduate High School in Indiana?
Students must successfully earn a minimum of 40 credits graduate and pass ISTEP+ End of Course Assessments. Be sure to check your school handbook for updates. The course credits required to graduate are included below.
Indiana Connections Academy High School Credit Requirements
To earn credits for a Core 40 diploma, students will need to complete the following courses:
- Language arts: 8 credits (English 9, 10, 11, 12)
- Math: 6 credits (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry), and Students must complete six credits of Core 40 math in grades 9-12 and take a math or quantitative reasoning class each year of high school. or quantitiative reasoning)
- Science: 6 credits (Biology, Laboratory Science (Chemistry I, Physics I or Integrated Chemistry-Physics), Elective Science)
- Social studies: 6 credits (World History, US History, Government, Economics)
- Physical Education: 3 credits (Physical education I, Physical education II, Health)
- Career Directed Electives: 5 credits
Specific additional requirements for an Academic Honors diploma include:
- Earn a minimum of 47 academic credits
- Cumulative GPA of a 3.0/4.0 scale
- C- or higher in all Core 40 courses
- Complete three years of one world language or two years of two different languages
- Fourth year of math to include Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or Statistics
- Earn two Fine Arts credits
- Complete one of the following:
- Earn 4 credits in 2 or more AP courses and take corresponding AP exams
- Earn 6 verifiable transcripted college credits in dual credit courses from the approved dual credit list
- Earn a composite score of 1250 or higher on the SAT and a minimum of 560 on math and 590 on the evidence based reading and writing section
- Earn an ACT composite score of 26 or higher and complete written section
- Earn 4 credits in IB courses and take corresponding IB exams
Beginning with the class of 2023 all Indiana high school students must satisfy all three of the following Graduation Requirements.
- Earn credits necessary for a High School Diploma;
- Learn & Demonstrate Employability Skills; AND
- Demonstrate a Postsecondary Ready Competency
In addition to earning the required credits.
